And for those of you concerned, no we are not going to actually name him Patches.\u00a0 And no, we are not withholding his actual name from you–we honestly have not decided yet.\u00a0 We feel it’s only fair to meet the little fella and get a sense of him before bestowing upon him the name which he’ll likely carry the rest of his days, possibly dragging alongside in the dust, or perhaps carrying aloft with dignity and pride.<\/p>\n
If you’re counting, Rachael is now 10 days past her due date, which I’m told is the average for first-time mothers.\u00a0 Makes me wonder: why do they give you a due date that is, in fact, inaccurate, and who came with the 40 week gestation deadline anyway?\u00a0 It was no doubt the result of some study looking at the average delivery dates of 100 middle-class white women in Minnesota in 1935, or some such nonsense…\u00a0 At any rate, I can feel the excitement and anticipation of last week slowly taking on the flavor of worry and anxiety this week, so hopefully Junior will decide he’s had enough of complete comfort, safety, and satiety, and will instigate his grueling and arduous journey into this foreign land.\u00a0 I mean, why wouldn’t he!?<\/p>\n
