didn&#8217;t document the holidays very thoroughly this year. \u00a0I always struggle to find a balance between capturing the event for the future, and staying in the present and enjoying it. \u00a0This year I chose the latter, and so I don&#8217;t have very many good pictures to show for it. \u00a0I try and remind myself that there are plenty of Christmas mornings from my past with exactly zero pictures, and I never lost any sleep over it. \u00a0It has become such a media saturated world, it&#8217;s easy to forget&#8230; \u00a0I often speculate that when I&#8217;m an old man it will be considered exotic, and perhaps even\u00a0more special, to have memories of events that <em>aren&#8217;t<\/em> recorded and available for playback.<\/p>\n<p>Thanksgiving was at Aunt Sarah and Uncle JD&#8217;s new dwelling, which you can see is a great place to host a crowd. \u00a0JD made another perfectly brined and browned turkey, and I did my best to contribute with an enormous roasted fresh pork leg. \u00a0Everyone seemed chastened after last year, and the pie-to-diner ratio was slightly less obscene. \u00a0After dinner we went for a nice long stroll, and Josef walked along with us the entire way.<\/p>\n<p>Christmas morning was at our house. \u00a0Rachael made a point of getting all the decorations up during the first week of December so that we would have maximum enjoyment of them. \u00a0She made a gorgeous breakfast spread for everyone that came over on Christmas morning to open presents. \u00a0I got a nice handmade coffee mug, Rachael got some more Spode xmas china, and Josef got a giant backhoe tractor and semi with a trailer. \u00a0He also got letter magnets for the fridge homemade pajamas, and a wonderful handmade wooden barn and set of farm animals.<\/p>\n<div
