Josef’s time at the Waldorf School finally came to a close. He started there in the Sweet Peas program when he was only two–making this is 12th year there! It’s really been such a huge part of our lives, it will feel odd not seeing the teachers and other students anymore. Of course Josef is more then thrilled to be done with the place. He has sadly developed a rather powerful contempt for any and all things Waldorf, and is happy to have that chapter closed. I can only hope that the rearview mirror adds a rosier glow to the place, rather than ruefully being viewed in the similar light as a stint in (a gentle and earthy) prison.

I know he did enjoy his time as big man on campus, attending dances, the 8th Grade backpacking trip, and even being elected (by a chicken) as the May King! He made wonderful and deep bonds with his classmates, and though I know they will surely drift apart over the years I hope that such a foundation of place and people will serve him well throughout his entire life.

In May our massive kitchen remodel operation was completed and it was mighty nice to have such a useful and comfortable space restored to us. I also took another trip to Japan to walk the countryside and explore temples and Japanese garden design. I have an eye on expanding the little garden that Rachael created for us in 2021. It was another fantastic adventure and perhaps I will post some photos here when I find the time.
