This sweet little boy is about 19lbs now, and almost 30 inches long.\u00a0 He’s quite tall for his age–about average for a 10 month old.\u00a0 He just started eating solids.\u00a0 He loves bananas, but is still trying to decide if he’s in to sweet potato.\u00a0 It’s really fun to be able to share a banana with him.<\/p>\n

He can roll from his back to his tummy in a split second, but still struggles getting back to his back again.\u00a0 He used to promptly flip to his tummy every time I put him down, and then immediately cry because he couldn’t get back, but nows he like being on his tummy and pushes up on his arms like a little seal.\u00a0 No crawling yet.<\/p>\n

He started sleeping through the night about a week ago, which correlates exponentially with my mental acuity, so things have been wonderful around here these days.\u00a0 We worked a long time to help him feel secure and comfortable at night, and to learn how to sooth himself back to sleep, so this is a great success for all of us!\u00a0 He seems to prefer to sleep on his tummy, one thumb plugged in to his mouth.\u00a0 It is adorable.<\/p>\n

He LOVES to be outside.\u00a0 Going outdoors seems to be an instant cure for any fussiness.\u00a0 Bath time is another favorite.\u00a0 We also have some games that he likes to play, such a “Earthquake,” “Roly-Poly,” and of course “Captured by Natives.”\u00a0 He likes it when we sing to him, but nothing too intense like Howlin’ Wolf or Tom Waits, which can lead to distress.\u00a0 He is very sensitive, becoming concerned when mournful singing is heard, or scared if Papa becomes too aurally bombastic (which tends to occur from time to time).\u00a0 He seems to possess a very gentle spirit and soft heart.<\/p>\n

He used to be very talkative–babbling and telling stories–but this month he has been more apt to either make growly\/grumbly noises, or these high pitched up-and-down mewls that we call “whale noises.”\u00a0 I think he’s exploring his range.<\/p>\n

He is a precious little fella, and I love seeing him smile and playing with him.\u00a0 Even though I crave and relish the quiet times during his naps, if they start to go on too long I begin to miss him.\u00a0 Seeing the giant grin on his face and hearing his sounds of excitement when mommy comes home each evening are always one of the best moments of my day.<\/p>\n
