Aunt Malynda was in town for a visit on Easter weekend, and we all had a splendid time. On Saturday we gathered with a group of friends at the beach for a gargantuan feast of a picnic. The weather wasn’t in full compliance with our wishes and it ended up being rather overcast, windy, and darn chilly. We made a good go of it though, and once the soccer ball and frisbee came out things warmed up a bit.
I haven’t dyed Easter Eggs in probably 20 years, so it was fun to get out the vinegar and food coloring and play around again. Fortunately we had the family artist on hand to keep our stylings tasteful. I didn’t realize until too late that we only had brown eggs in the fridge, and was expecting the eggs to turn out rather dreary, but we were all surprised out how rich the colors ended up! (Sounds like a Portlandia sketch: the free range organic easter eggs, in brown, grey, beige, and umber)
Josef was quite adept at finding the Easter eggs, provided that I picked them up and put them in his lap.
