6 months

There is a bit of a lag/incongruency in the titles of these posts, the text, and the photos. As I write this, Josef is currently 7.5 months old but the photos are from the day he turned 6 months old–which is actually his 7th month of life. Thus if you go back and read the text from the post “5 Months,” it will actually correspond better with these pictures. Everybody got that!? OK!

The last month has been really wonderful. Josef is becoming more interactive with his world: reaching for everything, tasting all that he can, trying to climb and crawl and walk and generally make the most of his strong healthy body. It is very cute to watch, and we have lots of fun playing together. He enjoys eating banana, avocado, spinach, sweet potato, carrot, applesauce, and even lemon and tomato! He also slurps bone broth from a little clay stein.

I think he’ll get the hang of crawling pretty soon. Last night he scooched all by himself (about 1″!) for the first time, and this morning he pulled himself a couple feet across the floor with my help. I think he is starting to realize that he can use his arms and legs to travel, and I observe and encourage his progress with great delight.

He really seems to enjoy riding the bus. We have taken a handful of trips around the city and he likes seeing all the new faces, most of which are beaming at him. He always makes many friends on the bus and gets to slobber on an exotic sleeve or two. We have a lot of fun being out and about, and I appreciate his agreeable and adventurous spirit! He is always game for an outing, though by the end of the day he is usually tuckered.

Of course it will probably be another month before I post pictures and videos of all this stuff, but in the meantime, here is a visual recap of April:

Here is the best part of every day: when Mom comes home! I love his sweet smile and spasm of excitement every time he sees her walk in the door.

Bathtime is always adorable

He loves avocados

Sometimes when he gets sleepy he becomes so docile and sweet

I so enjoy these posts and I feel like I know Josef without ever meeting him! He is so precious and you are such a great Dad!

I am so thrilled that you will be at Katrina’s grad party! My baby is graduating from college WOW! She is so happy that you will be attending and bringing Josef. (She tried a few times to see him in Santa Monica with your Mom but it never worked out.)

Thanks for including me in your life and see you next week!

    but! what is bone broth?

    • Hans says:

I boil some bones all day with a splash of vinegar and it makes a very mineral-rich broth for him to drink. Iron, calcium, magnesium, etc… He digs it!
