Still Awaiting Lauch Codes…

Well folks, I’m afraid there is still no baby news to send your way, so in the meantime I figured I’d share a couple of photos and let you contemplate what a young Patches might look like…

And for those of you concerned, no we are not going to actually name him Patches.  And no, we are not withholding his actual name from you–we honestly have not decided yet.  We feel it’s only fair to meet the little fella and get a sense of him before bestowing upon him the name which he’ll likely carry the rest of his days, possibly dragging alongside in the dust, or perhaps carrying aloft with dignity and pride.

If you’re counting, Rachael is now 10 days past her due date, which I’m told is the average for first-time mothers.  Makes me wonder: why do they give you a due date that is, in fact, inaccurate, and who came with the 40 week gestation deadline anyway?  It was no doubt the result of some study looking at the average delivery dates of 100 middle-class white women in Minnesota in 1935, or some such nonsense…  At any rate, I can feel the excitement and anticipation of last week slowly taking on the flavor of worry and anxiety this week, so hopefully Junior will decide he’s had enough of complete comfort, safety, and satiety, and will instigate his grueling and arduous journey into this foreign land.  I mean, why wouldn’t he!?

Thanks for tuning in, and I will of course let you know as soon as we have some good news!

For what it’s worth, I was 11 days late, and skipped my first pass at Halloween just to hang out in utero longer. It’s not like you can go back, so can you blame a fetus for wanting to milk it for all it’s worth?

So great to hear from the “Captain”! Your First Mate must be feeling quite ready for the boat to launch! Your cousin Rick was 18 days past the “due date” and weighed 8’9″, so obviously, he was right on time! Amanda was 15 days past – 8’9″, Mary 12 days 8’7″and Will 9 days – 10’4″ (pretty sure there was some excellerated growth involved there!) G’ma says I was a month over due! But that was 59 years ago and tying down an actual date of conception was still pretty iffy. I only weighed 7’2″ – g’ma’s biggest baby, I continue to hold that prestigious title – I’m still the biggest sized sister-lol. Well, little Patches is most likely calculating when his entrance into this world would have the most dramatic effect thereby blowing out of the water everybody’s preconceived ideas and expectations of how his arrival might go down. Which, if you think about it, is a VERY good way to start his relationship with his parents. No matter how prepared you think you are, Patches will utterly rock your world in a way you simply can not anticipate! This baby is something else!! Just like you and Rachel my darling!! All my love with prayers for power and peace, profound goodness is forthcoming in a way you’ve never experienced, nor have any of us. ILYTAP

Hi Rachael, Hans, Patches, Janie and Annette,
I have been thinking Lovely Baby Thoughts of you all each day…wondering, hoping, rejoicing that Patches will soon join your Sacred Circle! Our daughter McHale and her husband Samidh prepared (as all mothers-to-be do!) for a natural birth of their (gender unknown pre-birth) baby but about a month before JT (for Jesus Tadpole!) arrived she turned sideways. McHale tried exercises, herbs, and eventually the (painful and archaic!) medical process to turn her but she always preferred her transverse position and so the doctors opted for a c-section. Kaya Chakra-Berra was born on Tuesday, December 13, 2011…the frustration of a c-section quickly dissipating in the joy of their beautiful, healthy, 6 pound, baby girl! Best wishes for a hassle free delivery – however Patches comes into this world! Thinking of you LOTS!!!
    Love,
    Pat
